HTC Hero

My contract has just come up for renewal and decided to get myself a T-Mobile G2 Touch (Or a HTC Hero in english).

I have to say I am really impressed with this phone, I had read reviews about it being slow, locking up all the time etc etc. However in the 2 weeks I have had it I have not had a single lock up, I did however have some slowness when I first purchased the phone however after upgrading the ROM on it with the latest from HTC the speed was back up to normal.

The call quality is good, and I have been told that people can hear me perfectly. The battery life is good, Read more »

My Favorite Ubuntu Apps

For a while now I have been using Ubuntu and I thought to honor the latest release 8.04 Hardy (available at http://www.ubuntu.com) I would put down some of my favorite applications.

1. XChat

Being a fairly heavy IRC user this app comes in very handy. I much prefer it to the mIRC I used to use on Windows. It has some great scripts available for it out, for example XNP (XChat Now Playing) which grabs the current song I have on in Amarok (Another of my favorite apps coming down the line) and tells all the users in my channel about it, you can get it at http://project-lsp.sourceforge.net/scripts.html .

TV Cards

Hello there!

Well, I recently ordered a TV card for my computer, as you know i run ubuntu so it will be interesting to see how well this works.

The card I have ordered is not actually a ‘card’ as such, it is actually a USB and apparently has good linux support. This is backed up by people in forums and by reviews I have read. It also apparently integrates well with MythTV (software for viewing and recording TV on Linux). So like I was saying the card i have ordered is a Avermedia, they have drivers on then site specifically for ubuntu which is rather re-assuring.

I look forward to getting this card and trying it out, be sure that I will keep you updated on how it works!
